LEARN MEDICAL ENGLISH FROM A DOCTOR ONE-TO-ONE ONLINE
Dr Christopher Carne: Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
FREE ASSESSMENT AND SAMPLE LESSON

As a retired doctor, I offer tuition to doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and other paramedical staff for whom English is not their first language. My teaching is aimed mainly at those who wish to work in the UK or another English-speaking country. I teach one-to-one online so that the English covered is matched to the student's needs. I am focused on using my experience and expertise to teach general and medical English. With considerable competition for medical posts, a good knowledge of both general and specialised English gives the best chance of success in exams and interviews. I can also give coaching for interview technique.
It will be assumed when designing lessons for your particular needs that your level of general English is intermediate or advanced. I can teach either general English, medical English, or a combination of the two.
I am offering a unique service based on my experience as a doctor in the NHS (National Health Service) for 38 years, including 28 years as a consultant at Addenbrooke's, a university teaching hospital in Cambridge. In addition to being a long-standing Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London), I was made a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy which recognises excellence in teaching at degree level and above. Having retired from clinical work, I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language, with a further qualification in teaching one-to-one online.
Any teaching is preceded by a free assessment to determine the student's level of English. The first lesson is also free. This is for 30 minutes as opposed to the usual length of one hour.
